Should I get Leg-lengthening surgery?
(This is just to see people’s opinions on this subject.)
Im an 18 year old male. I stand barefoot at 5 foot 4 inches tall. My inseam is 25 inches. I was wondering if It is a good idea to get height surgery. Anytime I type this into google they take me to an article about someone who has this big clunky external fixator attached to their leg. What these things do is that they pull the leg apart 1mm per day after they have basically broken it. The bone grows and people end up being inches taller. That is not what I want to do. There are internal nails that they have invented also, even a robotic one. In particular I like one called albizzia that they developed in france which can increase a maximum of four inches. I want to have this thing done twice on my tibia and femur increasing my height at about 8 inches. Average height is about 5’9-5’11, average inseam is 32 or 34. With 8 inches added that would make me 6 feet tall with a 33 inch inseam. My wingspan is also at about 5’8, which to me makes no sense. Please tell me your opinion on this subject.
- also dont plan on doing it for another 5 years.
- This would also put me an estimated year in france first 4 months in a wheelchair, two months of recovery then again.Im also considering doing it a year apart depending on what the doctor says is okay. Doing it at the same time is not a good idea and most people who do that end up bedridden

Anything you decide to do will have consequences. You might have twinges at the breaks for years afterwards. Consider this, too. You probably haven’t stopped growing. You are 5’4"and your body parts are in proportion to that height. How will you look if you gain 8 inches longer legs and the rest of you is not in scale? Have somebody do a drawing. Recovery will include physical therapy, no fun at best. You will hurt. Some men aren’t through their growth cycle at 23. You need to find men who have had this done and talk with them extensively. In the meantime, exercise and eat well so you are in the best health possible, Learn to walk tall, head up, with confidence. You might want to take yoga or Ta’i Chi. My brother-in-law was your height and he climbed mountains with ropes and pitons.
from 5’4 to 6′??? 8 inches ??
sorry but It’s not going to happen
even if you could afford up to 150 000usd , with +20 cm in your legs you’d look super freak, forget it.
If you really want LL badly, you better start being realistic with your goal. 8 inches is stupid.
If you are determined and strong enough..maybe you’ll get 4 inches with two surgeries. Not more.
