No, because the human body structure is built as it is and pretty much wont budge lengthwise outside its own accord.
Most people are slightly taller in the morning and get slightly shorter as the day progresses and the spine compresses. A simple exercise like hanging by the feet may decompress the spine and make a person temporarily taller. However a real gain in height should require the bones to grow by adding more bone cells, especially during youth. Good posture alone may add at least a cm.

If you will do it so, then definetly you will get the fracture in your bones. This is because the bones could only grow when it gets the signals from the brain and thyroid glands through hormones.
Our bones gives a support to our muscles and gives us the outlook of ourselves, hence the growth of muscles doesn’t matter in case to become tallest but the growth of BONES must occur to became a taller.

Wait, correct me if Im wrong, if stretching is not effective then why athletes grow tall, why are they tall? Why some of there body parts are longer that the other? e.g., an Jai Alai player have 2 inch longer than the other arm? Its effective just try it every morning and evening. You wont lose anything.
