If you know someone that you think is on the unhealthy path to an eating disorder, what would you be looking for to confirm it?
I am not sure if this is anorexia or an ED. The girl in question has always been naturally skinny/thin even as a child, had to be forced to finish meals, always been a picky eater, stayed the same weight since she was 19 (she is 25 now) even though she’s grown a few inches taller in those years. Her BMI is in the underweight category though not morbidly so (BMI of 17.5). Takes a very long time to eat each meal. Prefers substituting a meal with milkshakes if she can. Carefully avoids junk food but eats anything with a high carb content (rice, pasta, noodles, etc.) and cannot do without milk/curd daily. Occasionally has fainting spells/light headedness (esp. around period time). Does not always feel hungry and can go for hours without eating. Lives by choice a very sedentary lifestyle.
However she does not check for calorie content and does not check her weight. The half-yearly weighing check-in is all she knows of her weight, which does not fluctuate too much and has not left the mark it was on five years ago.
She is not interested in food and would rather do without it and often does until she loses energy and blood sugar drops so low that she faints and becomes nauseated.
Why so little interest in food?

I’m 14 now but 15 in september. I am around 5 foot 3 which is considered quite tall in my family,but that’s because i’m from an east asian family (though my twin brother is tall and my dad).
Anyway, I used to be definitely above average in height in primary school and average in year 7, but now alot of people who were shorter than me are taller than me and my twin brother cameron was always shorter than me and since high school he shot up. Though, i guess he’s a guy and that happens but same with shorter girls who have shot up above me too.
I have been this height for a while now (I have a height chart on my wall), around half a year ago, i was growing veryy slowly like 2 cm every 2 or 3 months but now i’ve seemed to stay around this height pretty much since. I don’t think i’ve had a growth spurt or will have one or is it that i’m just growing VERYY slowly?
Also, I had my period before alot of my friends and developed before too, but my breasts are only a size 34A which is really small compared to ALOT of girls my age and some even in the year below. I’ve stayed this size for about a year or less as well.
I’m 41kg and I know this is quite light, but trust me, I eat alot. I think it’s because I have a high metabolism or i’m quite sporty. And I get around 8 or 7 hours sleep, but I do eat quite a healthy diet.

Is it possible i’m not growing to grow much taller than this? I am taller by a few cm than my mum, she’s about 5 foot 3 and my dad’s around 5 foot 10, my twin brother is 5 foot 7 and my other brother (17) is around 5 foot 6 or 7.

Is there any thing I could do to help my growing increase faster naturally? Or any other tips? Is there a way to check that you are still growing (Apart from height and breast size obviously, since these don’t seem to help-this is a bit stupid this question ha ha)
I know that girls don’t stop growing till around 18 but could it be different because i’m asian and to do with my parents genes?

P.S I heard junk food is supposed to stunt growth but I guess I eat quite balanced. Though, I like to eat sweets like most teens but I don’t eat them too regularly. And sorry and thanks for taking the time to read this 5 year long question. Aha :P

Now I don’t have children yet, only 18 but I was wondering if it would be possible. You see my dad is 5’11 and I am 5’6 but my stunted height is not genetic; ever since I was young I would constantly eat junk food and rarely have anything but rice and soup; candy, soda, you name it I probably had it. So would it be possibly for my children to be taller than me if they exercised, had a healthy diet, and stretched regularly?

K so I’m 11 year old girl. My mom is 5"7 and my dad is 5"11 3/4. I have strong genetics from both my parents. My mom was her height when she turned 12. I’m going through my puberty and I’m almost done with it. I started in 3rd grade. Since it’s summer here are the things I get to do almost every single day:
-Sleep 10-12 hours
-Drink lots of milk
-Swim a lot (My grandma and my neighbor both have a pool)
-Eat lots of veggies (We have a huge garden)
-Walk atleast 2 miles a day (Me and my mom take a walk every day)
-I’m a water baby! (Been drinkng it a lot since I was a baby) It’s my favorite drink!
-I NEVER drink caffeine
-I hate junk food and food with lots of sugar. So, I don’t have to worry about that.
I’m 5"00 and I want to be about in between 5"3- 5"5 before schools starts.
(Me wanting to get taller has nothing to do with school or popularity)
Plz don’t say you can’t force it and it depends on your genetics.Plz just leave some ways NATURALLY that I can grow taller. I will not take a pill or anything to do with medicine and stuff that isn’t natural. :)
Another thing, not bragging, I’m really strong. I can pick up both of my best friends’ at the same time. So I can hold about 200 lbs. I think I have lots of muscle cuz one time when I got mad I broke a wooden chair by hitting it. I know u probably wont believe me or you’ll say i have anger issues but its the truth.

I’m already starting puberty [I just recently started my period about 2 months ago]
I heard that when you get your period, you’re going to grow taller & along with some other body changes.

But the thing is, I don’t get why I’m still so short.
I’m only 4’9 yet I weigh 89 pounds
To me & my family, that’s not really good
At school during P.E, I run 2-3 laps (cross country and a mile too) around the track for about an hour
everyday.
I’ve cut down on my meat too, (trying not to eat too much) & eat more healthy stuff like vegetables, fruits, yogurt, but mostly a little snack/junk food D:

Yet I’m still not growing much. Is there any explanations for this? & any advice on what I can do to help me grow taller soon? I want to be at least 5’1 by the end of this year

my parents are normal, or idk. mom is 5’2 and dad’s 5’6. i know i have gone through their height already but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
My mother’s family is tall, not my father’s.
i hear lots of people say "it’s all in your genes, if your parents are short then you probably will too", well get this- it’s not ONLY genes, it’s 60% genetics and 40% diet/health.
1. eat healthy as always (i stay away from junk food and soda exc.)
2. I drink loads of milk !! (lots of calcium in it.)
3. I do stretch-exercises every day for 15 minutes, (i will play basketball now and then on the summer)
4. I have the best posture ever! the best one in my family, no one in my family has a good posture… so that’s a BIG plus for me.
5. I sleep alot, 8-9 hours a day, sometimes take naps for 30 min a day.

So, i do these things and i hope they pay off. I’m gonna try this out all the way to summer, and then see if i have changed.

Also: If we go deeper in this…
My parents never had a good lifestyle and diet when they were young, so they never got good vitamins in their body. Who knows what height-hormones was hiding behind those bodies. but I on the other hand have a good lifestyle so far. I do my best and work my *** off to get the best results.

my cousins are all 6’2, i wanna reach that height :( my diet is perfect! [I eat 6 small meals per day]
my posture is awesome.
i drink LOADS of milk! and stretch 3 times a day for 5minutes, and i sleep alot, 8-9 hours a day.
i eat Veggies,Cheese,Fruits exc. no junk food.. no alcohol, no smoking. im easily doing everything to gain those extra inches :(

ooh, err i’m 5’9 currently

hi im 5"5 or 5 "5" 1/2 {yes every centimeter counts to me :) } 116pounds 17years old, i know im short but i am very built, my friend is 6 ft 2 and he says i look around 130 pounds bcuz im that strong, anyways i wish i could grow to be atleast 5"7" i’d be very happy with that, i know guys stop developing at age 21, so is there a chance i might grow to be around that height?

-My mom is like 5"2" or 5"3" my dad is 5"7 or 5"8"
-i workout everyday for 1 hour
-i ride bike for 2-4 miles a week

I am 15 year who is about 5 feet 5 inches. I am active by doing high school cross country, indoor and outdoor track. I eat the right foods avoid junk food where everwhere possible. I have grown in a while. Is there anything i can do to grown taller?

I really want to lose weight but I just can I weigh 138 pounds and over the summer I lost 15 pounds naturally by like growing up and getting taller so before the summer I weighed 145 pounds but than I gained 3 pounds and now I’m trying to get it back to 135 BUT I really want to be less than that!

I don’t dress Emo or hide my face with my hair. I laugh and smile all the time in front of people and i try to make them laugh. But inside, i’m always depressed. If it’s not about my short stature, then it’s about my heavy weight. sometimes i feel just plain old ugly. Ever since i was four years old, i always thought i was ugly. I always thought my dad hated me and i was scared of him. He always told me as a toddler that he loves my sister more than me because it’s traditional. She’s younger. My sister is also naturally skinny. i’m fat. ever since age 9, i was on and off diets. and i don’t let myself touch junk food. and then… at age 11…. i hit puberty early and i stopped growing taller at 12. I’m now a wee little person stuck in a wee little small school because no other schools would take me. My self esteem is just so low and i’m sick and tired of being depressed. Everytime i try not to be, someting bad happens. like today, my swim coach said "there’s a lot you cant do" and
he sent me the shallow end. i’ve been on the swim team for three years because someone told me that swimming makes you grow. on top of that, i binge when i’m depressed. i try to numb my feelings. and other times, i keep telling myself "i need to eat this to grow taller" sometimes i cry and eat at the same time. then i gain weight and i feel even worse. this just gets so old! no body knows how i feel except for my little sister who always to comfort me. she’s the most important thing in my life. i think if it wasn’t for her i would have suicide already. i don’t want to compare myself with her but people do it all the time. she’s taller, smarter and skinnier. i hate myself. should i take anti- depressants and should i let anyone know? am i normal? am i emo?

Okay I am only 4’10, and all my friends are taller that 5’2, and it puts me to shame when Im next to them. Sometimes they tewase me and I feel as I don’t fit in. I am relee skinny, and dont eat: CHOCOLATE-I hate it- cake, cookies, icecream, or pizza, or any junk food like that, so my eating habits are good. I read that tall people have tall mothers most of the time i am 12 and i Stopped junk food and only drink un-alcholic drinks. Seriously please dont tell me you hve a long tome to grow cuz am the 3rd hortest person in class and I have 25. Starting now i walk with a bottle filled with milk around the house and drink as much as i can, i used to go to gym but i stopped and now i do pushups. now Can u tell me atleast how long should i sty on a pull-up bar a day and tell me examples of stretches that make you taller cuz i want to be very tall by next year?
