I am 13 year old girl and currently 5’2 and the doctor x-rayed my knee for medical reasons and saw the growth plate in my knee and he said the tallest I will get is around 5’3. Okay… so I’m a 5′ 5" 15 year old girl and weigh 141 lbs. I love my body, but I want to be thinner and taller. On June 7th, school’s out and holiday starts. We start our sophomore year on July 21st and we’ll be changing uniforms into the high school one (Private school).

So, this holiday, I’m thinking of going into a diet while exercising. I’m thinking of doing a detox diet or a fast because it acts as an introduction to my new healthy lifestyle. I want to lose around 20 lbs and grow taller until I reach around 5′ 9". I believe it’s possible and I’ve even bought Lance Ward’s book on how to grow taller and stuff. But the thing is, I’m afraid a detox diet/ fast will mess up my growth and slows/stops me from getting taller. Is this true? And what about the master cleanse or fruit fast, do they do that to your body?

Do any of you have any suggestions on what diet I should do in order to lose 20 lbs from 7 June to 21 July? And will the diet (preferrably detox/fast) stops me from growing taller? Also, what exercise do you think I should do (I’m thinking of swimming and running)? Please answer, thx

i know it sounds a bit ridiculous but when i was young my mum used to tell me if i jumped up and down reaching for the ceiling it would help me get taller. im 17 yr old girl right now and currently 5’4 and my aim is to each 5’5 or 5’6. is this still possible as i heard at around the age of 16 u stop growing.

Ok, so I think I probably have ED NOS, or eating disorder not otherwise specified because I’m not underweight (13 year old girl, 5 feet tall exactly, and 98-99 pounds, though I usually just say that I’m about 100 pounds), and I have never thrown up or taken diuretics.

I’ve been restricting my calorie intakes for a while, though. Three or so month ago, I was only eating 700-800 calories a day for about a month. I realized that was really unhealthy for me, though, so I increased my calorie intake to 1200-1400 calories a day, and I’ve been eating that much for about a month and a half.

I think my body may still be in "starvation mode," and that my metabolism is still messed up, because a lot of people say teens naturally need more calories because they’re still growing, and I believe that because I haven’t had my period in three months (which is one symptom of anorexia). I want to increase my calories so I don’t gain weight, though; most anorexics trying to recover need to gain weight, but I’m happy with the weight I’m currently at.

So far, I’m planning on eating more calories through healthy foods, like apples. I think apples are really good, because they are high in fiber and have lots of water in them, which will help my digestive system and help me "go to the bathroom." Is this a good tactic? Any other advice on how to eat more to fix my metabolism without gaining TOO MUCH weight?

Also, how long will I take? I know it’s a slow and delicate process, because most people go back to their eating disorder ways after their first "recovery," but I really want to get my metabolism back to normal, and also get my menstrual cycle back; I’m pretty sure I want to have some children in the future, and I don’t want to ruin that oppurtunity because of my stupid decision as a teenager.

The book is about freshman kids who realize that high school can change a person and that friendships don’t last forever. That not everything is like the movies, and cliches are only made for TV. Their stories are told from a third person point of view and their
lives are revealed throughout the book. Here are some descriptions of the characters…

Spencer Jerry, a 15 year old girl who people secretly envy for her exotic beauty is five foot five, very thin(due to a secret eating disorder she struggles with), has straight long jet black hair with a streak of blonde in the front. She’s naturally tan and has a "Punk" laid back style. Even though Spencer is pretty, she doesn’t act like it, for she is not self centered. She’s very calm and is friends with everyone due to her witty and fun personality and is known to make everyone smile. Spencer knows that she can get any guy and feels she needs a challenge. Later on in the book Spencer makes a bet with her friend Cady Renolds that she can get any girl to lik her. Cady, thinking that she’ll win this with flying colors, agrees to the bet. Spencer goes on and wins the bet by getting Tara Morgan to kiss her. After the victory, Spencer soon realizes that she actually did feel something when she kissed Tara and is confused as to whether or not she likes girls. Spencer then goes on with life thinking that what she was going through was just a phase, but soon finds out it’s anything but when she sees "the new girl". She falls quickly to think she’s in love with the new girl, but only time can tell how spencers feelings will unfold. Spencer doesn’t tell anyone though, for she knows being gay is greatly frowned upon in her community.

Cady Renolds, a 14 year old girl, is best friends with Spencer although she is very different from her. Cady is an inch taller and has a naturally big body frame but is not fat. She has pale skin, blonde hair, blue eyes, and is known to be the "typical american" She is quite boy obsessive even though she’s never really done anything with a guy besides hugging. She’s fairly smart and tries to follow in the steps of her sister Carmen who is the most popular senior in school. Cady has a "preppy" style. She goes through life acting care free but honestly cares about every single detail in her life. Early on in the book, Spencer grows tired of Cady due to the fact Cady always cares about her appearence and overly obsesses over the male race. They soon make up which results in "The Bet". A week after Spencer wins the bet, Cady walks home from school to find Spencer spying on Carmen getting undressed . Cady is in complete shock and questions, "What the hell are you doing?" In which Spencer looks around in fear, shrugs, and replies, "I think I’m…gay." Spencer then confesses to Cady that she has true feelings towards girls which started after she won the bet which leaves Cady depressed feeling like their friendship was a lie.

Tara Morgan is a 15 year old female who is open about her sexual orientation. She is known as "The Lesbian" of the school but has no problem with it. She has shoulder length dark brown hair and has a bubbly personality. She falls in love with Spencer Jerry but finds out Spencers feelings towards her aren’t real and were just a result of a bet. After finding out, she goes back to being home schooled and is rarely ever mentioned again in the book.
