just a thought. I’ve always wondered why they don’t do it that way, it seems a lot safer and lot a less painful!

I doubt any one would sit still for this procedure!! You set up a situation in which the patient will have to face the possibility of rejection for the rest of his life, as well aas be on many expensive & hard-on-the-body drugs. The fixator surgery is much more practical..
no that would not work. The implant is a foreign body.
Bones are hella good at repair. They just clean break a bone and put a fixator to hold the bone steady. Then the bone realizes it needs to reconnect to the other side of the bone and starts growing to meet the other side. That way it is all real bone and is extremely stong.
because if blood vessels get pulled too tight too quickly they spasm and close.
Nerves also don’t react too well to suddenly being stretched from an implant.
Many soft tissues react better to gradual lengthening instead of being stretched a great length in a short amount of time
